TIS Brings International Speakers to Macau for Symposium

Posted May 2, 2014 by Sandra Kuipers

Eleven distinguished speakers from around the world will be sharing their knowledge and expertise at a symposium on Inclusive Education, hosted by TIS on Saturday, May 3rd.  Entitled Academic Success in Inclusive Education: Advocating for the Right to Achieve, the symposium is an opportunity for the DSEJ, local schools, and support institutions to collectively bring about enhanced awareness, knowledge, and practice to the special education needs community of Macao. The event will take place from 8:30 to 5:00 p.m. at TIS and will include sessions in both English and Chinese.

“All schools in Macau share the challenges and opportunities for developing effective inclusive education,” says Jennifer Camulli, TIS’ Coordinator for Inclusive Education, adding, “This is an opportunity to bring us together, to share issues and challenges and to collaborate as we consider how to move forward in the development of Inclusive Education in Macau.”

The wide range of speakers, who represent the many facets of Inclusive Education, will be running workshops and speaking on various topics. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Noel Chia, who is recognized globally in the field of Inclusive Education.

“We hope that delegates will leave the symposium with a better understanding of how to program effectively for inclusive students so that they too will experience academic success at school,“ says Camulli. For more information and to view a full line-up of presenters, visit the symposium website at: www.tisinclusion.com.
