At the Venetian Science and Technology Expo sits a small booth filled to the brim with wires, whizzing robots, 3D-printed hands, and soldering stations while ACDC blasts from a student-made boom box. Mr Todd Voykin and student representatives from The International School of Macao continue to manage their booth, showcasing student robotics work and helping participants learn how to make their own flashlights.
“I think there are a lot of like-minded people here who are interested in robotics,” said Harley, a grade 11 volunteer from the school’s robotics course. “So when they came here to learn how to make a flashlight, it was easier to work with them because they’re actually here to learn.”
“What I really like about this place is that there’s just so many different vendors that are showing off different technologies,” said Mr. Voykin, the robotics teacher and supervisor of the booth. “So when you wander around and check out what’s going on at different schools and other things that people are doing, it’s very inspiring, it makes you want to go do that as well. I see other people doing different really cool things, I saw these guys building a robot with tank tracks, it makes me want to do more to improve my program.”
The expo will be on until Sunday, Oct 14th from 9 am to 7pm in Cotai Expo Hall D at the Venetian. Feel free to go and support our TIS booth and also be inspired by other technologies showcased there.
