The “think digital” laptop program, which started in September, has been a huge success for students and teachers alike. The program has allowed teachers to vary how they deliver their lessons; which in turn has led to increased student engagement. Students have been able to vary the ways in which they access, manage and create content, thus giving them more flexibility when it comes to their learning.
Both students and teachers have received support from the two full-time technology integration staff at TIS. This support has provided planned and “just in time” learning for students and staff so that they can utilize a wide variety of apps and devices.
Technology staff are already starting to prepare for next year when another two grade levels will join the laptop program. They will share information at a parent session on Wed, April 27 at 6:00 pm. Current grade 6 and 9 students will be required to participate in the laptop program during the 2016-17 school year. The presentation will be held in the Secondary Library (2nd floor).
