The Benefit Concert has always been one of the biggest, if not the, event of the school year. If ticket sales alone were a barometer of success for an event, then 2019 smashed it out of the ball park. Tickets were sold out within an hour of going on sale, so if you were one of the lucky few to snag a ticket, then you would have witnessed the amazing talent we have at our school.
The audience was treated to an evening of world class entertainment, from instrumental recitals and opera singers to dance routines and karate demonstrations. All of the acts were arranged, directed, choreographed and performed by students, some as young as kindergarten age. We cannot go without mentioning the phenomenal turn-out for the staff number; who knew we had so many savvy dancers amongst our TIS teachers and admins!!
A huge congratulations to all the organisers, in particular Ms Lydia Mak who said after the event, “I just wanted to say that I am very proud of all our High School Student Council students, the performers, the staff, and the TIS community for coming together to support one another. It was a wonderful night not only because the performers were incredibly talented and were an absolute joy to watch, but in a world where differences often divide and cause dissent, it’s wonderful to see people from various walks of life come together to benefit those in need.”
The final amount raised was $32,200 MOP, and will be donated to Kai Chi Early Learning and Development Centre – a centre that supports children with special needs and learning difficulties. Our TIS Volunteer Team have been working with and supported Kai Chi for the past 3 years.
Here is a recap of the wonderful evening. Thanks to Jono Mayhugh for the photos.
