The multimedia (MTM) students have taken on a fun yet challenging project over the last two months under the directions of the high school MTM teacher, Ms. Peggy Fok. Using Google Sites, they were asked to create their own website that serves as their web portfolio. Students can use these websites in the future to show clients or even universities their collection of all their art and design works. The MTM students have made many posters for events happening around school to put in their print portfolio, such as the Halloween haunted house and the Mid-Autumn Festival posters.
Under the video portfolio, there is a one-second video project which is a compilation of a second a day of the students’ lives over the past two months. Additionally, students were to include their best photography works into the photos folder of the website.
The students used their design skills to combine all these works to create an aesthetically pleasing website that is easy to navigate and professional. At first, many students struggled make a website that represents their style. They were given complete freedom in how they represent their works on their website, therefore it was up to the students to use trial and error to find their design preferences and establish a website that represents themselves. The students steadily improved the design of their website during the two month phase. The end results were all the websites were unique and personalised to the students; everyone ended up with websites that they were satisfied with. Go to sites.google.com/tis.edu.mo/pfok to check out the websites that the MTM students have created under the students’ works folder.
