Senior Kindergarten Create an Upcycle Christmas Tree

Posted on December 19, 2017

by Senior Kindergarten 3 & 4

SK3/4 have been learning about the importance of plants in our lives.  We have learned about the different parts that plants have, what we use plants for, and why plants are important to us.

Last week we had received boxes of apples from DSEJ.  We knew that cardboard came from trees and that it was important to recycle and reuse these materials.  Since the Christmas season was about to begin, we decided to turn our boxes int a Christmas tree for our classroom!

Next, we wanted to decorate it just like a real Christmas tree.  We used our imaginations and each created a unique ornament to place on the tree.  Some of us even had the idea to add a star on top. We had so much fun working together to build our Christmas tree while learning more about plants and recycling.

*The Christmas tree is currently displayed outside the kindergarten classrooms on the 3/F North Wing.
