On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to announce that Dave Spreadbury, our Secondary Principal, will be retiring at the end of the 2015-16 academic school year. Mr. Spreadbury and his wife, Yvonne, have been an integral part of TIS for over 8 years. Like many of us, they came to Macau for a 2-year contract and ended up staying quite a bit longer.
Mr. and Mrs. Spreadbury came to TIS from Canada in 2007 as the Academic Counselor and Student Billing Officer. Mr. Spreadbury was promoted to the Secondary Principal position beginning in the 2010-11 academic year and Yvonne eventually transitioned into the Executive Assistant position. Mr. Spreadbury has been instrumental in developing the secondary school into what it is today. His balanced approach to student education has enabled academics, athletics, arts, and community outreach to flourish. He has ensured that our students have amazing opportunities throughout their time in secondary. Mrs. Spreadbury has provided the organization and communication necessary to keep the administrators’ offices running smoothly as well as helping out with catering, special events, and new teacher orientation.
The Board and staff at TIS would like to thank Dave and Yvonne for their dedicated service over the past 8 years. We thank them for their commitment to TIS and to helping TIS grow and develop. We wish them all the best as they leave us at the end of June. We know that their days will be spent with family (including 5 grandchildren), fishing and friends.
A comprehensive search has been initiated beginning with the development of a principal profile. Staff and the TIS Parents Association (TISPA) have been involved in developing the attributes for this key position. The school will be seeking suitable candidates from within Canada and from leading international schools around the globe.
Together in education,
Howard Stribbell, Head of School
