Remembrance Day on November 11 marks the day World War 1 ended, at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month, back in 1918.
Remembrance Day at TIS will be observed with a moment of silence at 11 am to honour all those who sacrificed their lives for freedom. The song “The Last Post” will also be played on the trumpet.
Many people at TIS are wearing a red poppy today, which has become a familiar emblem of Remembrance Day due to the poem “In Flanders Fields” written by Canadian physician, Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae.
