At TIS we know that parental involvement makes a significant difference in educational achievement, and believe that children are more successful at school when schools and parents work together in constructive and meaningful ways. There are so many ways for you to be a part of your child’s educational experience! TISPA, our parent’s association, welcomes your input and support. They plan several special events and fund raising activities throughout the year and work to promote a sense of community within our school.
You are always welcome to volunteer in the classroom and to join in on field trips and special events, like the elementary storyteller or the kindergarten water day. You can find out about these events on the classroom blogs and school website. Teachers also keep in touch and provide information to parents through agendas, email, notes and phone calls. We encourage you to check these sources regularly to find out about your child’s daily activities. Feel free to contact the teacher if you wish to ask any questions or just have a conversation. You can phone, email, write a note or come to the school.
You can also support your child’s learning by monitoring their daily homework. More information about homework for elementary children is available on my elementary blog at: http://elementary.tis.edu.mo/. A very enjoyable and easy way to enhance your child’s learning is to read with them every day. You can share some of your favorite stories, read their library books with them, and have them read their classroom books and materials to you. Educational outcomes for students are improved by the cooperation of those who have the greatest influence on them, namely parents and teachers.
We look forward to working with you and sharing in your child’s success and growth this school year.
