The first in a series of educational workshops for Kindergarten teachers was held yesterday afternoon at TIS. The workshops are offered through the newly formed Early Childhood Education Academy, recently launched by TIS to share best practices and ideas in early childhood education.
Yesterday’s session, Play-Based Learning: Creating Reggio Emelia-inspired Classrooms, was attended by twelve teachers from TIS, School of the Nations and Macau Anglican College. The workshop continues this Sat, Sept 24 and next Wed, Sept 28 at TIS. The aim is to provide early childhood educators with a foundation in play-based learning as well as many practical ideas to help them create an inspiring classroom that is conducive to learning.
The second workshop in the series, Play-Based Learning: Creating Thoughtful and Productive Learning Activities, will be offered on Nov 30, Dec 3 & 7. All sessions are facilitated by Karen Holmes, who has more than 20 years of teaching experience in Canada and Asia.
