Ninety elementary students, ranging from Grades 1 to 6, performed to a full house on Friday night, followed by two more matinee shows on Saturday. Based on the smash DreamWorks animated motion picture, TIS presented Madagascar – A Musical Adventure JR under the direction of Mrs. Doreen Stribbell, and supported by Ms. Laura Harris and Mr. Nick Chignall. Since the auditions back in the late months of 2018, avid performers have enthusiastically and tirelessly rehearsed after school and on weekends.
From start to finish, the audience was captivated by the madcap adventures that took Alex the Lion; Marty the Zebra; Gloria the Hippo; hypochondriac giraffe, Melman; and a waddle of mischievous penguins, out of the comforts of their home at New York Central Zoo and into the crazy world of King Julien’s Madagascar, where they were met with the boisterous lemurs and the very hungry Foosas! It was difficult not to “move it, move it” with the upbeat songs and colourful characters portrayed by our young cast.
This was Mrs. Stribbell’s eleventh elementary school musical at TIS.
