Starting this weekend, secondary students will be heading off on their Experience Week adventures around the world!
Experience Week is one of the programs that sets TIS apart from many other schools. For one week in March, students have the opportunity to travel abroad and learn about the people, culture and customs of their host country. Community outreach is also an important part of every trip.
This year, the grade 7s will be exploring Vietnam, the grade 8s will be discovering Chiang Mai in Thailand and the grade nine classes will be sightseeing in Osaka, Kyoto and Nara in Japan. High school students, meanwhile, are participating in trips to Cebu in the Philippines, Russia, Spain & Portugal, Hong Kong, Laos, and New York City to attend a Model United Nations conference at the United Nations Headquarters! Students staying in Macao will have the opportunity to gain early childhood and elementary work experience right here at TIS.
In preparation for their trip to Laos, students spent three days last week selling smoothies during the lunch hour. They sold a total of 320 smoothies and made MOP 7,200 which will be donated to the charitable foundation World Volunteer in Laos to help build roads and bring electricity to the remote villages around Luang Prabang.
Stay connected with what’s happening on the Experience Week trips by reading the travel blogs. Teachers and students will be posting photos and commentary about their adventures on a daily basis.
