In grade 4, the students have been learning about simple machines and how these machines make work easier. During this inquiry-based project, students were asked to use material from around the classroom and their home to make a car. Each car was required to have wheels and axles and students were asked to look deeper into how friction, balance, force, and wheel size influence the efficiency of their wheel and axle.
Students enjoyed building prototypes and continually adding and making adjustments to their cars to show their learning.
