Homework Tips

Posted October 24, 2013 by Sandra Kuipers

Homework and Tutors: Building for Student Success was the topic at Parent Coffee Time this morning in the Secondary Library. Mr. Stribbell and Mr. Rabbit provided parents will some helpful tips on how to best help their children with homework. Here’s an overview:

  • Set a scheduled time to do homework.
  • Homework should be done without distractions (such as technology unless it’s required for the assignment) and in a public area.
  • Check your child’s agenda, class website, Edmodo or Moodle on a regular basis.
  • Ask questions and assign reading time.
  • Get children involved in extra curricular activities like art, music or sports. Being involved in activities actually helps children to do better in school.

Join us for the next Parent Coffee Time on Thursday, November 21 from 8:30-9 a.m. in the Secondary Library. The topic will be the Chinese and Math curriculums.
