TIS is very excited to announce the receipt of a large subvention from the Macau Government, specifically for science and technology resources. The Science and Technology Development Fund granted a total of MOP734,000 to TIS – funds that will be used to purchase cutting-edge equipment for the school’s science and robotics labs, such as a 3D printer and laser engraver/cutter system.
“This state-of-the art equipment is rarely found in a high school laboratory environment so we are very fortunate to be able to offer these resources to our students,” said Head of School Howard Stribbell.
Additional lab resources will be purchased to complement TIS’ existing high-end equipment and to support more hands-on learning in physics and chemistry. Plans are underway to purchase an air track system, Van de Graff generator, electric circuits and collection probes and sensors. The new equipment will allow further innovation in the traditional sciences of biology, physics and chemistry.
The grant is part of the Macau Government’s long term strategy to advance the technological development of the city by providing funding for education, research and project development. Many thanks to Chemistry Teacher Mr. Martin Brown and Lab Assistant Ms. Iris Choi, who were both instrumental in the application process for the subvention.
