It was a very special day today for 67 grade six students who officially graduated to middle school!

The ceremony at MUST Auditorium started off with an inspiring speech by Elementary Principal Ms Jazz and was followed by a funny and creative video by grade 6 teachers Mrs Kiat, Mr Beck & Mr Poole, as well as Ms SmithDale and Ms Kuipers. Next was the presentation of the certificates followed by a musical performance by the grade 6 students.

Special awards for English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, ELL, Visual Art, Music, PE, Mandarin, Most Improved, Citizenship, Premio Li Bai (DSEJ) and Premio Flor de Lotus (DSEJ) were presented to the top students. The celebration ended with another impressive musical performance by the grade 6s, singing We’re All In This Together, and a slide show highlighting the year in review.

There were some special surprises including the presentation of a bouquet of flowers to Ms Kuipers who is leaving TIS at the end of the school year, and a cake for Mrs Stribbell as thanks for the many musicals she has directed over the years. A number of the grade 6 students have been in the musicals every year since grade 1!

After the ceremony, the students and teachers all went to Hard Rock Pool for a fun day of swimming and relaxing. Many thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of today’s graduation ceremony and congratulations to our grade 6 students!
