Grade 3-2 Students Donate Books to Cambodia School

Posted May 6, 2014 by Sandra Kuipers

In grade 3, the Social Studies program of studies focuses on Making a Difference in the World.  Collectively, the students in 3-2 were inspired to make a difference in the lives of the students at Grace House School in Cambodia.  They went to work creating informational posters and short presentations to drum up support from the TIS student body.  In groups of 3-5, they presented in many classes throughout the school.  In true TIS spirit, the donations rolled into the classroom.  The generosity was met with resounding cheers of appreciation.  The students in 3-2 demonstrated great pride in this meaningful and worthwhile action project.

Over Spring Break, the Kloss family travelled to Siem Reap.  They carried with them the two suitcases filled books and school supplies, weighing over 115 lbs combined.  Tuk-tuk driver, Meas from Globalteer, met the Kloss family at the airport to transport the donations to Grace House School.  Thank you sincerely to all of the students, families, community members and staff who made this initiative possible!
