Teachers and technology enthusiasts from schools in China, Mongolia, Cambodia, Hong Kong and Macau participated in the 2nd annual ACAMIS Technology Conference, held October 20-21 at TIS. Here is a sample of some of the presentations:
“Breakout EDU”, an amazing presentation by Benjamin Leung on how to create an interactive game without coding
“Redesigning Learning Spaces” by Mel Varga where he showed participants our new Learning Lab and discussed how to utilize a space to it’s full potential
“Unmanned Aircraft”, a wonderful presentation by David McMahon which showcased student’s amazing cinematography with drones and the regulations to fly the aircraft safely
“Virtual Reality” presentation held by Dennis Grice where the participants were able to experience virtual reality with a Smartphone and Google Cardboard
“Create Your Own Amplifier”, led by TIS robotics teacher Todd Voykin
Mr. Sean McHugh, the keynote speaker from UWCSEA Singapore, started off the two-day conference with a passionate keynote presentation about ways to make technology transformational in the classroom. This was followed by several short presentations by our talented High School Drama students who shared their thoughts about technology use in schools. Saturday morning began with an interactive and informative live podcast in the Black Box Theatre, followed by 12 Demo Slams where participants demonstrated how to use an app or tool in 2 minutes or less. Overall, thirty-four different presentations were offered over the two day conference, ensuring that there was something valuable for every level of teacher.
Special thanks to all the amazing presenters for the conference, ACAMIS(Tom, Angie and Gary), all TIS teachers, staff and student volunteers who worked tirelessly in organising and coordinating the conference.
The next ACAMIS Technology Conference will take place at The British School of Beijing on October 19 and 20, 2018. Be sure to save the date for another fabulous learning experience!
