As the Fall Break approaches, twenty TIS families, ranging from Grades 1 to 8, are getting ready for the 2nd TIS Family Service Trip. Last year, Mr. & Mrs. Kiat led our first ever Family Service trip to Chiang Mai where they learnt about the local culture, and for many stepped out of their comfort zone and learnt a lot about themselves, whilst helping the local village make clay bricks to renovate an adobe house. The experience proved so successful it has now become a part of the TIS calendar.
On Friday evening, the families will be taking off to two destinations. Ten families will be flying to Laos, led by Mr. & Mrs. Kiat, the other ten families will be leaving for Chiang Mai led by Mrs. Stribbell.
In Chiangmai, they will be reconnecting with the village they fell in love with last year and plan to help them build the foundation for a new village library.
In Laos, the families will be reaching out to a new village to learn more about their culture. Whilst there, they will be working on a dormitory project that has already been partially built. Once fully completed, the dormitory will house 50 plus students from surrounding villages who will be attending school for the very first time.
We look forward to hearing about their adventures on their return.
