The excitement was palpable on Friday as the sixty grade 12 students who make up the Class of 2017 celebrated the end of their high school career with a graduation ceremony and banquet at the MUST Auditorium and Studio City Ballroom.
Dressed in traditional caps and gowns, the students entered the auditorium as parents, teachers and family members looked on. The ceremony began with speeches by Mr Stribbell, Mr Coates and Mr Lauchlan, and was followed by the presentation of the diplomas and special awards. Valedictorian Joy Kuai ended the ceremony with an inspiring speech to her fellow graduates.
Award Winners:
Governor General’s Award – Andy Chan
The Patrick Mitchell Community Citizenship Award – Michelle Chou
The Neil P Johnston Fine Arts Award – Camilla Wong
Macau Government Lotus Award for Academic Excellence – Andy Chan (Male) & Jessica Tam (Female)
Spirit of Canada Award – Tiffany Ng
After the ceremony, everyone headed over to Studio City for the banquet. Graduates came dressed in their suits and gowns, looking smart and beautiful. The program for the evening included performances by the graduates, an Egyptian dance by Mandarin teacher Ms. Wang, memory videos and special thank-you’s to the high school teachers. The end of the banquet saw all of the graduates get up on the stage and sing. It was truly a memorable evening for everyone.
Again, congratulations to Class of 2017 and all the best in your future endeavours. Dream it, believe it, achieve it!
Many thanks to Vanessa Wong, the grad committee and everyone involved in the planning and organising of such a wonderful and successful ceremony and banquet.
