This year, Chinese New Year falls on February 8, which will see the Chinese zodiac sign change from sheep to monkey. TIS will celebrate this important Chinese festival next Thursday, February 4th in the MPR and outside on the red mat area. Parents are welcome to attend! The schedule for the day is as follows:
8:30-9:10 am: Grade 1-6 (Watch CNY performance)
9:15-10:15 am: PK-SK (Activities)
10:20-11:20 am: Gr. 1-3 (Activities)
12:15-1:25 pm: Gr. 4-6 (Activities)
1:30-3:00 pm: Gr. 7-12 (Watch CNY performance followed by activities)
The Chinese New Year performance will feature a traditional lion dance, Chinese martial arts, sword dance, a play and other cultural acts. There will also be many activities for parents and students to enjoy, including shadow puppets, stilt walking, Chinese tea ceremony and dumpling making, as well as craftsman booths, such as dough figurines, sugar painting, woven straw and Chinese knots.
