Why did you choose this sport instead of other sports?
Marcus: I chose to practice martial arts because I enjoy the competitions, also my mom encourages me to be active and participate in an activity with new friends. Additionally, I participate in martial arts so I can learn how to work hard at something that I enjoy.
Focus: I really like this sport. It helps me become stronger, also this learning martial arts can protect the people around me and myself. I also enjoy the culture and the spirit of the sport.
How is this sport useful in daily life?
Marcus: Martial Arts teaches me that I need to be peaceful and calm in all areas of my life and not be in the “red zone”. I need to have inner strength so that I am peaceful on the outside.
Focus: Dance is also something I’m passionate about, so aside from helping me become stronger, martial arts can also be a part of my dance show. Also through this sport, I have learned to never give up. When you choose to do something you enjoy, try to do it as much as possible. Martial arts also teaches me industriousness and stamina.
How do you prepare for your competitions?
Marcus: I warm up and stretch before each competition and I get ready mentally and physically. I practice three times a week so that I can get better at each skill that I need to perform.
Focus: Every time I go to practice I always try my best to prepare for the competitions. I also try to be not elated by success nor disturbed by failure.
