On Wednesday, our school hosted yet another Mid-Autumn festival. The annual event was a success as usual, as many families swarmed in to enjoy the warm, festive wonderland. The place was filled with laughter as students and families drifted from stall to stall. The multi-purpose room was embellished with colourful, hand crafted lanterns strung across the room above our heads. The sweet aroma of the lovely baked goods like cupcakes and cookies, could be smelt throughout the room, courtesy to TISPA, our TIS parent’s association. “The lanterns are so beautiful!” said Trinity Krakora, “I’ve never seen the MPR look like this before.”
Tables were set up for many activities and goods for sale. There was the usual face-painting booth, run by students. The face painters were diligently painting intricate patterns onto the faces of impatient children, while their colleagues also ran the photo booth. Sparkling fedoras and funky glasses were laid out on the table, ready for families to take silly pictures. Kids excitedly flocked to the beanbag toss to compete against one another. Happy cheering could be heard every time the bean bag landed in the bucket.
Many hungry guests wandered outside in search of a filling dinner. A grill was set up outside, as the TISPA staff worked busily to grill the beef patties. The irresistible smell of grilling beef and sweet onions had mouths everywhere watering, as the line for burgers and hotdogs grew longer and longer. A popcorn stand stood right beside the grill, children gathered around to buy bags of buttery popcorn. Parents lingered around the silver tables chatting while students ran out to the playground and the soccer field. There were some kids playing soccer, and there were some that lined up for the sponge throwing area. An unfortunate teacher stood in the soccer goal in goggles and a swimming cap, as laughing children threw soaked sponges at her, all in the name of fun.
The Mid-Autumn festival this year was a beautiful event full of fun and food that really brought the TIS community together. We will be anticipating the festival next year!
