Students Learn Advertising Fundamentals

Posted on November 14, 2016

By Manuel Figueiredo, Grade 12 Student

The TIS Marketing & Management class has been working on the promotion of the upcoming drama event, Miss Nelson is Missing. Students are working in a competition of 4 teams, with the goal of selling the most tickets for the event.

The teams have decorated bulletin boards all over the school to shed light on the drama production and it is safe to say that teams are spreading the word about the play to various grade levels. This is great experience for the first year marketing students and an excellent learning opportunity to see what works and what doesn’t in advertising.

“I think it’s an interesting challenge because you are trying to interpret your client’s needs, whilst putting in your own creative input. This is an important thing to learn as there will be times in life where skills that we are developing now will be useful in terms of communication and other project management skills,” said grade 12 student Xavier Nunan about the challenges of advertising.

The marketing team has been receiving a lot of feedback from other students which is helping them to revise and improve their advertising campaigns.
