Salva Dut and Inspire Citizen’s visit to our school may be a distant memory but our teachers and students are still busy raising funds to build the well in South Sudan.
The generosity of our TIS community has been truly humbling, we have now reached 80% of our goal (just over 104,000MOP). At the beginning of the school year, TIS set out to raise 130,000MOP (16,000USD), enough money to fund the building of a new well in an isolated village of South Sudan. A well takes about three to four days to build. Once complete, each well pumps approximately 1,800 gallons of water per day and serves approximately 600 to 750 people.
We would like to thank all those who have donated so generously. A special mention goes to the following students and teachers who have gone above and beyond to raise money and awareness to this cause:
- Grade 2-1 : Harper – for donating her tooth fairy money
- Middle School combined fundraising – led by Ms Candice Alm
- Eco-Warriors fundraising – led by Ms Marley Henault & Ms Tina Dimitrova
- Grade 8 cupcake sales
- Grade 4-1 : Jessica, Sienna & Feline’s rice krispies sales
- Grade 4-3 : Herb’s Bottle Challenge Game
- PK-1 : Ms Alix Jasinski and Pre-K students for making the first “donation well”
- TISPA : donating proceeds from October & November popcorn sales
There are still a few more fundraising activities on the way within the school but we still need your assistance to help us reach the remainder of our goal. The online donation platform is still open – click here to donate.
