Last weekend the Secondary Players cast & crew of 29 students put on a spectacular musical performance “Legally Blonde Jr.” to a packed house on both nights. Some of the cast were seasoned actors whilst others made their debut on the TIS stage. All the cast and crew were superstars who conveyed their part through beautiful song and choreography.
The story follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes, snobbery and scandal in pursuit of her dreams. When Elle’s high school boyfriend, Warner, dumps her and heads to Harvard, claiming she’s not “serious” enough, Elle takes matters into her own hands, crafting a showy song-and-dance personal essay and charming her way into law school. Befriending classmate, Emmett, and hairdresser, Paulette, along the way, Elle finds that books and looks aren’t mutually exclusive. As Elle begins outsmarting her peers, she realizes that law may be her natural calling after all.
The whole show was a resounding success. None of which would have been possible without the tireless efforts of Director Mr. Devon Dafoe and Music Director Ms Kerrie Reid, not to mention the student and staff that assisted with choreography, costume, sound, lighting, hair and make-up. Special thanks also go to the student Marketing Team for successfully promoting the show with new innovative ideas.
We are sad it is over, but we look forward to seeing more amazing talent on stage next year!
