I have been a school educator for 14 years; 8 of those have been here in Macao at TIS. I received my teaching degree later in life and started my career as a Physics and Calculus teacher in China. My role has expanded from being an Academic Counsellor to also be a part of the team that brought the IB Diploma Programme to TIS. Since we were authorized by the IB organization on July 1st, 2017, I have been TIS’ IB DP Coordinator. It has been an incredible and rewarding challenge to combine the Alberta High School Diploma with the IB DP. The students, staff, and admin have worked very hard to make this combination work; it has been very inspiring. My undergraduate degree is in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Biomedical Engineering. It was quite a path to get from there to here. I’d be happy to chat about it with you sometime.

I moved to Macau in August 2018, looking forward to joining TIS as Mandarin Coordinator. I oversee and articulate the K-12 Chinese programme and coordinate Chinese cultural events. I am very proud to see immense learning happening in our Chinese classes every day! Embracing students’ diverse cultural and language background is key to make sure their success and foster interests in the Chinese language learning. Before moving to Macau, I worked in Singapore, a lovely tropical country which I consider as my second hometown, for about 10 years as an educator. The experience of working with prestigious international schools in Singapore shaped my understanding of 21st-century education in a global context. I received my Bachelor of Arts (Chinese Language and Literature) from Henan University, Master of Arts (Linguistics and Applied Linguistics) from Beijing Language and Culture University, and Master of Education from the University of Adelaide, Australia. I am an avid reader and a strong believer in lifelong learning.

Greetings TIS students and staff! I’m thrilled to be joining the TIS family for the upcoming academic year as the Service Learning Coordinator. I will be coming to Macau from my hometown of Chelsea, Quebec, Canada. Over the last 10 years I’ve spent time teaching different high school subjects and coordinating service, experiential and outdoor education programs in remote First Nations communities in Canada as well as Japan and Saudi Arabia. I love traveling and spending time hiking and riding my mountain bike in the great outdoors. Looking forward to meeting everyone at TIS soon!

I am thrilled to be the Early Childhood Education Coordinator beginning in the 2019/2020 school year. I look forward to leading a wonderful team of Pre Kindergarten and Junior Kindergarten educators. Previously, I have taught children from ages 2 to 6 as a classroom teacher, as a Kindergarten music and movement teacher and I have been a Team Leader/Curriculum leader involved heavily in curriculum development. My Asia journey has lasted 19 years and counting, and I have been blessed to teach children from all over the world in Shanghai, Singapore, and Macao. My philosophy aligns closely with the TIS child-centred, play-based E.C.E. Program that allows children to undertake a project based educational journey. I look forward to supporting children to develop socially, emotionally, cognitively and physically through a Reggio inspired approach. I am excited to get to know all of our lovely PK and JK students and families.

I have been an educator at TIS for 10 years now and I consider Macau to be my home. Before joining TIS, I taught for fourteen years in Edmonton, Alberta. I obtained both my Bachelor of Education and my Master of Education at the University of Alberta. As Technology Integration Coordinator, my primary goal is to ensure effective technology integration by staff and students at TIS. Specific duties include coordinating technology training, overseeing the "Think Digital" laptop program and leading the TIS STEAM Committee. Personal interests include travel, spending time with family and scuba diving.

I have been an educator for the past 13 years. I started my career in Toronto, Canada and moved to Macau in 2013. In my current role as Athletic and Activities Director, I’m humbled and amazed on a daily basis by the passion and dedication shown by our coaches and student-athletes. Their collective hard work and discipline has allowed the athletics program at TIS to grow and thrive in recent years. It is my honour to continue this culture of excellence and to be involved in the physical, moral and social development of our students. Let's go Tigers!

“I have always imagined that paradise will be a kind of library.” - Jorge Luis Borges. I am very fortunate to spend most of my time in my favourite place. Students are always surprised to see me out of the library, but when I do manage to escape, I like to see all the places in the world I’ve read about. I have been in Macau for 11 years, but I have also taught in Australia, Japan, England and Canada. Besides a book-pusher, I’m a teacher, a reader, a family juggler, a student, an art lover, a baker and a storyteller.

This is my fourth year at TIS and I am excited to have the opportunity to contribute to the learning community from my current role as Curriculum Coordinator for Grades 1-12. I am originally from Saskatchewan and had the pleasure of working for the Saskatoon Public School Division for 14 years, teaching a wide range of curriculum and grade levels before moving to New Zealand in 2008. Living in Auckland, I worked as a teacher, facilitator and program developer for seven years and worked closely with schools and teachers to help develop and better utilize the use of technology in classrooms. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the outstanding team of educators at TIS and I anticipate another great year of enthusiastic learning.
